2010
1st January
At 10-10 this morning, the ALB was launched to assist 2 canoeists who were in trouble off Rossall Point. We were stood down before reaching the scene, as a small angling boat had assisted them.
30th January
At 11-30 this morning, the ALB was called out to search for a small cabin cruiser which had left Glasson bound for the south coast and was suffering stability problems in the swell. The vessel was located and escorted to Fleetwood.
6th February
At 11-45 the ALB was called out in thick fog to locate a small fishing boat with 1 person on board who was unsure of his position. The vessel luckily had a vhf radio which meant that the ALB was able to locate her using our direction finding equipment. The vessel was found in between Fairway buoy and River Lune No 1, and escorted safely back to Knott End in 40m visibility.
27th February
At 19-20 the ILB was launched to the report that an angler had fallen in the river whilst recovering his boat at Knott End. He was clinging to the boat unable to climb out of the water. The ILB got the man aboard and returned him to the lifeboat station where he was showered and then awaited an ambulance. He was very cold and exhausted but otherwise OK. If it wasn't for the speed of the ILB launch and the crew's actions, things may have turned out much differently.
