Fleetwood Lifeboat Crew.....

 

Lifeboat Operations Manager ( LOM)  : Dave Eccles, recently retired from the

crew after 20 years service, has now hung up his life jacket  and keeps us all in order at the station.

 

 

Station Honorary Branch Chairman : Capt. Peter Woodworth is an ex Hon Sec and LOM

He has done and still does just about everything you can nautically speaking.

 

 

Deputy Launching Authority (DLA) : Joe Bottomley  says he is one of the bosses at the 

Nautical College but we are not sure just what he actually does.

He spends most of his time living the dream - the Tangerine Dream . 

 

 

 

Deputy Launching Authority (DLA) : Capt. John Matthews is the big boss of

Fleetwood Nautical College.

 

  

Deputy Launching Authority (DLA)  : Chris Hurst MBE

Chris retired as long serving crew and Coxswain a couple of years ago and

was called to see the Queen to receive his MBE.

He works for a brewery and is lifelong supporter of the Seasiders.

 

 

 Lifeboat Station Secretary :  John Royle

John spends a lot of time at the station sorting stuff out and putting it in the right boxes.

 

  

Lifeboat Visits Officer : Dave Thompson  is a retired policeman

and is the guy to get hold of if anyone wants to visit the station for a tour.

Station Honorary Medical Advisor Doctor Gerald Meehan works at a local

practice in Fleetwood.

 

 

Station Chaplain : Rev Steve Cooper was so sad when he had to leave the crew

when he moved churches and found himself too far away from the station to make call outs.

He still visits us when he can on training nights and always says a prayer for us when the pagers go off.

 

   

Station Honorary Press Officer : Tony Clark   email  is also a crew member and  IT engineer.

He can write up the most mundane call out, and make it sound like a gold medal service.

 

  

Coxswain :  Paul Ashworth   email   is an old and very reasonable plumber.

He is very comfortable being knee deep in water - just ask his customers!

 

  

Mechanic : Steve Carroll . It's not true that he loves his motorbike and

his lifeboat more than his wife Deb.

Steve is the only full time guy at the station and is a deputy Coxswain.

 

 

2nd Coxswain : Gary Randles  enjoys fishing and fast cars.

He is an ILB helmsman and works  at the Nautical College.

Deputy 2nd Coxswain : Capt. Ian Ellarby  works at the Nautical College and his hobbies

include gardening and dressing up

 

  

Andy Wilson  has been on the crew for a very long time.

We call him  Beermonster  and he works offshore, flies helicopters, shoots firearms and catches pike.

 

 

Capt. Neil Atkinson  is the Station Training Coordinator (STC) and long time crew member

He is also Fleetwood Harbourmaster, ILB helmsman and  a deputy coxswain.

 

 

 

Andy Marham  has been on the crew for many years after leaving the Coastguard.

He is an ILB helmsman and during the day he drives his RAC van. 

 

   

Skip  needs no introduction and yes he works at the Nautical College.

 

 

Dave Jordan - DJ - is a 7th dan black belt and works at the Nautical College.

 

  

Chris Ashworth has recently had his hair cut.

He enjoys kitesurfing and dressing up as a granny. He is an ILB helmsman and emergency

mechanic. Although he doesn't actually work at the Nautical College,  he does  study there.

 

  

Gavin Burke is an Emergency Mechanic and drives a very old Landy. By the time

it gets to the station for a callout the boat is often already underway.

He enjoys running and all things nautical and oh yes, he works at the Nautical College too.

 

   

Dave Butler is a bit of a Del Boy and has his finger in a lot of things.

He is an Emergency Mechanic and supports the Cod Army.

 

   

Angela Sanderson She puts up with a lot from the guys but she is a long serving crew member and ALB navigator.

 

   

 

Daryl Randles is one of the younger crew members and one of the keenest.

He is currently training for his ILB helm.

He works on Fleetwood Marina.

 

 

Tony Cowell  is the Captain of the Fleetwood Ferry.

He is never seen without his cap, even in bed. He is an ex trawlerman - so don't mention fishing boats - or you'll never get away.

He is also a keen Liverpool supporter.

 

 

Jack Woolford  has had a spell away from us in the army

but is now back on the crew.

 

Jonathan Davies  has now joined the boat crew, having been on the shore crew for some time. He studies at the Nautical College and works for Fishers.

 

 

  

Margaret Lenihan  is a nurse and comes from the Emerald Isle .

She has been an active crew member for a number of years and drinks cloudy cider when she's out

 

 

Iain Cardwell  has been on the crew for many years and enjoys shooting firearms and fathering girls.

 

 

 

Geoff Moss  has been on the shore crew ever since he was kicked off the boat crew for being far too old.

He drives a Landy but it's newer than Gavins so he normally gets to the station on time.

Geoff is also a bit of a yachty but has recently sold his boat now he has obtained his free bus pass.

 

  

Nathan Hackney  looks and sounds like that bloke who plays the king on Blackadder.

He enjoys camping and sailing  and has been on the shore crew for a year or so.

He does, of course, work at the Nautical College.
