Fleetwood RNLI crew took up the challenge of the Great North Run.
Five volunteers from Fleetwood Lifeboat crew, are joined the 50,000 runners in the Great North Run held on the 4th October 2008.
The crew decided to join the event after crew member David Jordan laid down the challenge to fellow crew member David Butler. Both joined forces to convince Coxswain Paul Ashworth to join the team, this was followed by support from crew member Gavin Burke and former RNLI employee John Woolam. A spokesperson for the team remarked that the crew saw the event as a good way to maintain and improve fitness whilst raising funds for the RNLI.
All 5 members of the crew completed the event. Some a little quicker than others. DJ, Dave B and Paul Ash just beat the guy on crutches whilst Gavin and John W did a respectable 2 hours. Thanks to everyone for their support.
