Fleetwood Lifeboat was the 15th busiest station in the RNLI last year with 93 launches which we believe was our busiest year ever. Thank you to all our supporters for allowing us carry on doing what we do.
Morecambe Bay Helicopter Tragedy Memorial
Wednesday 1st February 2012
Volunteer RNLI crew members from Lytham and Fleetwood today joined family and friends of the seven men aboard the helicopter which ditched into the sea on the night of 27th December 2006.
The memorial sited on the promenade near Fleetwood Lifeboat Station will be a lasting tribute to the men who tragically lost their lives at Christmas 5 years ago.
Prayers were said and a hymn sung with words from Sandra Potton, wife of the helicopter pilot, the Mayor of Wyre, David Bannister and a reading from Chris Hurst MBE, Fleetwood Lifeboat Coxswain, who led the search and rescue attempt that night.
Sandra Potton said later "I can't express my thanks enough to the RNLI crews and the other rescue services who did their best to try and find our loved ones that night. I think it is fitting that our memorial is situated next to Fleetwood Lifeboat Station."
RNLI SOS day, Friday 27th January

Crew and volunteers at Fleetwood Lifeboat opened the doors last Friday to show local folk around the station and lifeboats.
Any donations on the day were put into their new lifejacket appeal fund, which is hoped, will pay for the crew's new lifejackets due to be delivered in May.
The unique, state of the art jackets, have been designed from scratch and have innovations to keep the crews as safe as possible as well as offering comfort and freedom to move in the confines of the lifeboat.
Peter Atkinson, one of the Fleetwood Lifeboat Sea Safety team said, "As usual, the response was amazing and there were several large donations on the day. This meant that the full cost of the crew's lifejackets has now already been met by local folk and for this we are so grateful. It is essential that when crews put to sea to help others, they have the best protection available."
Significant donations were made on the day from :
Peggy Whittaker's Fleetwood Community Association,
Fleetwood Golf Club Ladies Captain - Kath Wright,
Mrs A Cardwell, Mr Mike Bee, Mr & Mrs Blyth, Mr W Shadbolt and Mr & Mrs Monks.

Lifeboat Day
We collected £2000 for RNLI funds - thanks to all helpers and contributers. The weather was brilliant too.
The 2011 Sailpast best dressed yacht was won by Reg Best on "Defender". The trophy was actually designed and donated by Reg and his late wife 3 years ago, so it was extra special when Defender was chosen as winner.
The photo shows Fleetwood RNLI crew member and Fleetwood Harbourmaster, Capt. Neil Atkinson, handing the trophy over to Reg.

Our Midsummer Night's Walk attracted over 1600 walkers despite the weather. Walkers were entertained at Wyre Lighthouse and at the Euston later, by big lifeboat supporters - the "Captains Crew".
Morecambe RNLI Crew were kind enough to be on standby with their hovercraft and as usual, were needed - this time to help a child suffering from the cold ( English Summers !)
Thanks too, to our friends Fleetwood Coastgurad Team and Fleetwood Nautical College, whose assistance made it all possible.
The generous trekkers donated a massive £2000 to the RNLI - thank you all.
